Staff Designer - AI Healthcare
Humankind is partnering with an AI-powered healthcare company reimagining how clinical research is conducted. Their mission: to make medical research faster, more transparent, and radically patient-centric. By combining human insight with intelligent agents, they’re building tools that help researchers and clinicians collaborate seamlessly—turning the world’s health data into life-changing discoveries.
We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to lead design across the systems that power AI-driven study delivery. This is a chance to define how humans and AI collaborate in complex operational workflows—shaping the interfaces, systems, and experiences that sit at the heart of modern clinical research. You’ll be part of a senior team building tools used by researchers and patients around the world.
What you’ll do.
Lead design for core product areas that orchestrate human-AI collaboration in research delivery.
Define and evolve the design system and interaction patterns across internal and external tools.
Balance the needs of researchers, data operators, and engineers to create elegant, effective solutions for complex workflows.
Partner closely with Product and Engineering to shape vision, roadmap, and product direction.
Express ideas at multiple fidelities—from systems maps to high-fidelity prototypes—to drive alignment and decision-making.
Contribute to and champion design culture, mentoring peers and raising the craft bar across the team.
What we’re looking for.
7+ years of experience designing and shipping complex, end-to-end digital products.
Strong portfolio demonstrating clarity in simplifying intricate systems and workflows.
Proven experience designing with or for AI—particularly in contexts where human and machine collaboration is central.
Ability to thrive in ambiguity, move fluidly between systems-level thinking and detailed execution.
Excellent storytelling and communication skills, with a track record of influencing cross-functional teams.
Bonus points.
Experience in healthcare, research, or data-heavy enterprise environments.
Familiarity with LLMs or other AI-driven design challenges.
Passion for improving how healthcare and science impact real people.
